A well known DJ is fronting a campaign to encourage people to listen to less loud music – and cut the risk to hearing, it was announced yesterday.
Eddy Temple-Morris has been recruited to back the fourth annual Tinnitus Awareness Week in Britain.
Mr Temple-Morris organised a free music event last night called "One Tune, One Cause" at Cargo in London.
Each act played just one tune – and advisers were in the audience offering free personal hearing protection.
People with tinnitus suffer from unexplained ringing, buzzing and other sounds in their ears.
The British Tinnitus Association says it wants to make the risks of loud music a key theme of the awareness week.
Ray Bratby, chairman of the British Tinnitus Association, said: "Tinnitus can be a distressing condition and although there is no cure, there is advice and information that can help tinnitus sufferers to reduce the level of noise they experience and which ultimately can dramatically improve their quality of life.
"Tinnitus is a misunderstood condition that affects people of all ages, we are working hard to change that and to encourage better tinnitus awareness."
