A new European project will allow the public to check the side-effects of medicines collected by all the countries of the EU, it has been announced.
The European Medicines Agency project currently has details on some 1,700 drugs.
It brings together reports of adverse reactions collected across the continent.
New rules in 2012 required all EU countries to allow patients to report side effects – leading to some 35,600 reports a year coming to the European centre, EudraVigilance.
The site contains the data collected by EudraVigilance, the Agency said.
A spokesman said: "Spontaneous reports of suspected side effects provide regulatory authorities with important information which is used to monitor the safety of a medicine.
"Throughout a medicine’s lifecycle, regulatory authorities analyse all reports together with all other available information on the medicines, to make sure that their benefits remain greater than their risks and to optimise their safe and effective use."
